Henry S. Burrage was born in Fitchburg, Mass., in 1837. He attended Brown University and entered the Union Army a year after his graduation in 1861, eventually obtaining the rank of major. After the war, he attended Newton Theological Seminary, from which he graduated in 1867. In 1883 he also received a Doctor of Divinity from Brown. During his life, Rev. George B. Noyes, the son of David J. Noyes and Nancy Barney Noyes, was born on April 6, 1837, in Atkinson, Maine. He served as a hospital steward in the 11th Maine Infantry Regiment in the Civil War. He graduated from the Medical School of Maine at Bowdoin College in 1866 and established a medical practice in Stonington, Maine. He died on July 31, 1927, in Stonington.
